Greek City Tripoli Aims to Bid for European Cultural Capital
Local tourism sector entrepreneurs and the Peloponnese Tourism Organization (PTO) met earlier last week to discuss Tripoli’s bid as European Cultural Capital for 2021.
The Municipality of Tripoli, the PTO and the Arcadia Hotels Association met on 2 December to discuss the city’s plans as well as the development of synergies between the private tourism sector and local authorities towards this end, including the active participation of both parties in the development of tourism policies and planning.
The meeting underlined the importance of the implementation and completion of relevant infrastructure, technical and services projects relating to waste management, sanitation, lighting and traffic planning, which will upgrade the city’s offerings to residents and visitors.
Local tourism associations expressed the need for open and constructive dialogue with the aim of developing the tourism potential of Tripoli and the surrounding region.
