Qatar Airways Introduces Middle Eastern Hospitality to Thessaloniki, Greece
Qatar Airways gave Thessaloniki, Greece, a taste of Middle Eastern hospitality and five-star services at this year’s Philoxenia International Tourism Exhibition, organized by TIF-Helexpo during 13-16 November. The airline participated in the Greek expo for the second consecutive year.
This year’s Philoxenia expo attracted a record number of attendees and demonstrated the event’s dynamic penetration of the international market. The expo attracted hosted buyers from Bulgaria, Canada, Costa Rica, France, Germany, India, Italy, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Slovenia, Turkey, the Netherlands, Ukraine, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, South Africa and the United States.
The team of Qatar Airways was led by Alexandros Michalopoulos, Commercial Manager Greece & Cyprus, who held meetings with corporate buyers and travel agents from across the world. “We are delighted to participate in the 30th Philoxenia again this year, as there is an extremely high quality of corporate buyers and key industry figures,” Mr. Michalopoulos said.
Qatar Airways recently moved its hub and all its operations to Hamad International Airport.
The new airport is the world’s latest global gateway, with state-of-the-art facilities and passenger focused design.
Built to accommodate 30 million passengers annually, rising to 50 million upon full completion, the airport covers an area of 29 sq. kms and is 60 percent built on land reclaimed from the Gulf.
Qatar Airways has seen rapid growth in just 17 years of operation, to the point where today it currently is flying a modern fleet of 142 aircraft to 145 key business and leisure destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, North America and South America.
