The Region of Central Macedonia invited tour operators, journalists and educators from Italy’s Lombardy region to join them “In the Footsteps of Alexander the Great” during a presentation in Milan on 21 November of the region as a leading all-year-round destination ideal for educational tourism.

The aim of the presentation was to highlight the rich educational attractions and offerings of Central Macedonia and attract field trips from northern Italy but also tap into the region’s potential for special interest tourism.

Italian reporter Gianmario Marras presented the region after visiting Vergina, Pella, Thessaloniki and Amphipolis as part of a feature for travel magazine Touring.
