The GB Roof Garden restaurant of the Hotel Grande Bretagne in Athens, Greece, is included on The Daily Meal’s third annual ranking of the 101 Best Hotel Restaurants Around the World.
The Daily Meal is a website that covers every aspect of the food and drink experience: restaurants, chefs, food trends, cookbooks, wine and spirits, healthy dining, home entertaining, food-oriented travel, and of course cooking.
The Greek hotel restaurant came in 92nd place on the list, a grouping of what The Daily Meal called a “carefully curated collection of the world’s most exemplary hotel-based epicurean endeavors”.
Referring to the GB Roof Garden, The Daily Meal said: “Open year-round for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, this rooftop restaurant overlooking Constitution Square offers sweeping views of the Acropolis, Lycabettus Hill, Parliament, and Kallimarmaro Stadium, site of the first stadium-held Olympic Games, in 1896.”
The Daily Meal added that “Michelin-starred chef Asterios Koustoudis emphasizes high-quality raw materials and slow cooking methods on his menu”.
Through the 101 Best Hotel Restaurants Around the World list, the Daily Meal recognizes hotel restaurants that have proven themselves as truly remarkable culinary destinations.
The Daily Meal’s number one venue for 2014 is Epicure at Le Bristol in Paris, France.
