University Of Aegean Announces Special Lectures For Greek Tourism Enterprises
The University of the Aegean in Greece is organizing a special thematic program entitled “Water and energy efficiency solutions for reducing the operating cost in tourism enterprises” in the framework of the Operational Program of Education and Lifelong Learning (NSRF, 2007-2013).
The aim of the program is to provide information and knowledge to tourism professionals regarding the efficient use of water and energy in tourism enterprises (hotels, lodgings, restaurants etc), as well as the economic benefit resulting from the adoption of new technologies and efficient management practices.
In addition to lectures, the program will include hands-on sessions under which participants will have the opportunity to compare alternative water and energy efficiency technologies and select the appropriate practices for reducing the operation cost.
The lectures will be given in Greek and take place in (press on links for further information):
– Karlovasi, Samos Island (30 October to 3 of November 2014)
– Ermoupolis, Syros Island (13 to 17 November 2014)
– Mytilene, Lesvos Island (27 November to 1 December 2014)
The topics covered by the lectures and the hands-on sessions, are:
– Sustainable use of natural resources and water resources management in insular areas
– Water saving technologies and energy efficiency systems
– Water and Energy efficiency calculations Excel-based tool for the calculation of water and energy use and the assessment of water and energy saving technologies
– Financing options for investing in efficient technologies
Instructors include Demetris-Francis Lekkas (Associate Professor, University of the Aegean), Maria Papadopoulou (Assistant Professor, National Technical University of Athens), Dr Eleni Kampragkou (Environmental Engineer), Dr Eleftheria Klontza (Environmental Scientist) and Dr Konstantinos Ververidis (Environmental Scientist).
The thematic program is addressed mainly to small and medium-scale touristic company operators, managers and employees. Executives of local authorities, local bodies and cooperatives and all those interested in new technologies and environmental management, are also welcome to attend.
The participation fee is 40 euros and includes registration, coffee and light meal for five days and educational material.
