Greek Archaeological Sites And Museums Attract More Visitors

Visitors to Greek archaeological sites during the first four months of the year increased by 24.9 percent and revenue from receipts were up by 21.5 percent compared with the same period in 2013, according to data released recently by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).

Likewise, during the January-April 2014 period, museums in Greece saw a 12.6 percent increase in visitor numbers and a 19 percent increase in revenue from receipts.

According to ELSTAT, in April alone, the country’s museums saw an 11.9 percent increase in visitors and a 33.9 percent increase in receipts, compared with the corresponding period last year.

Visitors to archaeological sites in April were up by 25.2 percent and receipts rose by 29.2 percent, compared with the same month in 2013.
