Region of Attica Wins Prestigious Effie Award
The Region of Attica and McCann Athens recently won an Effie Award for the region’s advertising and tourism promotion campaign at this year’s Effie Awards Hellas 2014.
The Effie Awards are marketing communications awards given yearly by Effie Worldwide, Inc., a non-profit organization, to honor the most effective marketing communications ideas: ideas that work.
The Region of Attica aims for its tourism campaign to boost the Greek capital’s popularity and for Athens-Attica to be included among the 10 best city break destinations in the world by 2020.
The Effie award was received by Anna Papadimitriou, the deputy prefect of Attica and vice governor of the central Athens section, and Katerina Hrisi from McCann Athens.
“Athens, Attica and their islands are a unique travel destination that we must highlight and showcase through all available communication channels,” Ms. Papadimitriou said.
It is noted that in 2013 and in 2014, Athens was included in the list of top 25 city break destinations in, according to the Traveler’s Choice survey of popular travel website Tripadvisor.
The Effie Awards were first launched in the United States in 1968. Today there are over 40 national and regional Effie programs worldwide — in Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America, North America and the Middle East/North Africa. Effie programs honor the most effective marketing communications cases within a country, across regions and globally.
