All Greek tour coach owners are now required to apply for a special electronic seal of authenticity, following a recent decision of the Greek Transport Ministry.

The new seal, provided exclusively by the Pan-Hellenic Federation of Tourism Enterprises (GEPOET), certifies the authenticity of the coaches that transfer tourists throughout Greece.

According to GEPOET, the new authenticity seal has been introduced to restore legality in the industry and assure passenger safety. The seal is expected to put an end to the circulation of illegal coaches.

The seals may be obtained from the offices of GEPOET in Athens as of 10 July.

Coach owners must obtain the seal by 30 June 2015 or otherwise face a 500-euro fine and have their permit and license plates revoked by the authorities.

Detailed information (in Greek) about the seal can be found on GEPOET’s website or by tel. 210.9245120.
