Miss Austria 2013 To Use Pelion, Greece, As Photoshoot Backdrop
Miss Austria 2013 Ena Kadic will travel to Greece in late May for a photoshoot scheduled to take place in East Pelion where film takes of the Mamma Mia movie were shot.
The concept of the photoshoot was thought up by Volos-based travel agency Les Hirondelles and the company “Mamma mia Weddings” and is part of a broader targeted action plan to promote the Greek region of Magnesia in the Austrian market.
Miss Austria 2013 is a big fan of Pelion’s gastronomy and has said she is very excited to do the photoshoot and have the opportunity to see the beauty of Pelion up close.
The motion picture Mamma Mia starring Meryl Streep, was filmed in a number of locations in Greece including Damouchari Beach in Pelion. Other shooting locations were the Kastani and Skiathos beaches.
More actions to promote Magnesia in Austria
The photoshoot of Miss Austria 2013 in Pelion was just one of the actions announced following a recent joint promotion campaign launched in Austria by the Region of Thessaly, the Magnesia Chamber Development Company, the Hotel Owners Association of Magnesia and the municipalities of East Pelion (Zagora and Mouresi) and South Pelion.
The campaign kicked off with a two-hour radio presentation of the tourism product of Magnesia on the travel show Aufunddavon of the state radio ORF, RadioWien.
After the radio show, Greek officials and tourism professionals gave a presentation of Magnesia’s and Sporades’ destinations (such as Pelion, Volos, Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonissos) at Ella restaurant, in the center of Vienna, to Austrian travel agents, tour operators and travel writers.
After the presentation, the Austrian travel professionals and journalists were treated to various local products and dishes prepared by chef Kostas Parnos.
Magnesia is gaining popularity in Austria and is already included in travel packages promoted to Austrian travelers. Airline companies Austrian My Holiday and flyniki, this year fly direct to Volos and Skiathos.
According to an announcement, the Greek tourism professionals of Magnesia will launch a cooperation with tour operator Thomas Cook-Neckermann to promote more b2b and b2c actions in the Austrian market. Actions will include decorating windows of selected travel agencies with “a touch of Greece,” video screenings of Greece in Austrian travel agencies located near tram stops and advertising on the sides of two public buses that circulate in the center of Vienna.
