Greece, Australia To Sign Work-Visa Agreement

australia_greece_flagsOn Wednesday 14 May, Greece and Australia will sign an intergovernmental agreement that will enable young adults to obtain a tourist visa for travel between both countries to live and work.

Under the plan, Greek youths (aged 18-30) will be allowed to work for up to a year in Australia and, since the deal is reciprocal, Australian youths will have the opportunity to do the same in Greece.

According to press reports, the agreement will be signed between the Australian Minister for Immigration and Border Protection, Scott Morrison, and the Greek Tourism Minister, Olga Kefalogianni, during her official visit to Melbourne next week.

During her stay in Melbourne, Mrs. Kefalogianni will meet with leading Australian tourism professionals and visit the Parliament of Victoria for meetings with the chairman of the House and Senate. She will have meetings with the head of the Greek Community of Melbourne and the Hellenic Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HACCI).

The Greek tourism minister will also visit the Greek Museum of Melbourne, where she is expected to meet Victorian Premier Denis Napthine.
