Emirates will temporarily launch a second daily service onto its Athens-Dubai route from 1 August to 25 October 2014 to cater to strong demand.

The second daily flight will be serviced by an Airbus A330-200 and operate as flight EK 3109/3110. It will temporarily increase seat capacity on the route by 76 percent and cargo capacity by 74 percent.

In a period when inbound tourism is expected to significantly contribute to Greece’s economy, the double daily flight for the summer period is expected to increase the traffic of passengers who fly for leisure or business reasons to Athens and vice versa, an announcement read.

“Since launching services between Dubai and Athens on June 1996, we have received a very positive response from Greek customers and trade partners to the Emirates product, while our Athens service continues to grow in popularity,” said Jaber Mohamed, Emirates’ Area Manager, Greece & Albania.

EK3109 departs Dubai at 4:40pm and arrives in Athens at 8:40pm. EK 3110 leaves Athens at 11:25pm and arrives in Dubai at 5am.

“Athens is a very important destination for Emirates with the long-standing tourism and business relationship between the UAE and Greece,” Mr. Mohamed added.
