University of Aegean To Hold International Summer School On Earth Sciences
The Department of Mathematics of the University of the Aegean is organizing EarthBiAs2014, an international summer school on “Big Data Analysis in Earth Sciences.” The summer school will be held 7-11 July 2014 on Rhodes, Greece, in collaboration with the Global Network for Environmental Science and Technology (GNEST).
EarthBiAs2014 covered topics
EarthBias 2014 Summer School program provides a unique opportunity to the participants to interact with scientists from the University of the Aegean and others, distinguished institutions domestically and abroad. Issues related to real environmental applications will be addressed interdisciplinary with the use of of Data Analysis, Information technology and Mathematics.
The individual sections, derived from lectures, workshops and round tables, are related to big data systems, flexible and dynamic structures that can meet future requirements, to sensors and softwares, to statistical methods and to their implementation for the analysis and simulation of environmental systems.
The topics covered by the Summer School are:
– Understanding the specific characteristics of Big Data
– Database Systems
– Analysis of multi- dimensional data
– Data and Web Mining
– Mathematical models for data mining
– Data management and analysis
– New technologies and softwares
– Application of all the above in simulation examples of different environmental systems
