Hilton Athens To Go Dark In Support of Earth Hour 2014
Hilton Athens will turn off its lights for one hour to join “Earth Hour,” the call for action on climate change.
Earth Hour will be held this year on Saturday 29 March at 20:30. Millions of people around the world will come together to call for action on climate change by doing something very simple – turning off their lights for one hour.
Hilton Athens, in accordance with Hilton Worldwide, takes its environmental responsibility very seriously and always supports such important initiatives.
Once again this year, the hotel’s external and internal lights will be switched off for an hour. Moreover, the restaurants and bars will operate by candle light, whilst guests will be encouraged to participate by switching off their room lights.
“Earth Hour,” an initiative launched by WWF (World Wildlife Fund) seven years ago in Sydney, is a global call to action, to take responsibility and get involved in leading the way towards a sustainable future.
Global landmarks, monuments and buildings will stand in darkness and people all around the world will switch off their lights and join “forces” for the future of our planet.
Last year, 152 countries participated in order to pledge support for the planet, making “Earth Hour 2013” the world’s largest global climate change initiative. In 2014, “Earth Hour” is expected to be the most successful ever.
