Mount Athos Presents Pilgrimage Routes To Serbian Travel Professionals

ITTFA_Mount_Athos118_magdaxThe Mount Athos Area Organization introduced 16 pilgrimage routes located on Halkidiki’s “third leg,” to Serbian travel agencies and tour operators during the ITTFA International Fair of Tourism that recently took place in Belgrade.

The Serbian tourism professionals were informed on various vacation packages that combine tours between pilgrimage sites of the Athos area and archaeological/Byzantine sites that have special cultural value such as ancient Stagira, ancient Acanthus, the Ancient Sanctuary Ouranoupoli and the Holy Monastery of Zygos.

According to Serbian travel agencies, Greece should expect a mass arrival of Serbian visitors in specific areas of the coastal zone this summer.

The organization said it aims to open a communication channel between its Greek business members and the Serbian market and promote thematic forms of tourism that may help extend the tourism season.

The organization will also attend the TTR – Romanian Tourism Fair Bucharest on 13-16 March.
