Thessaloniki Prepares For 9th International Alexander the Great Marathon
The 9th International Alexander the Great Marathon is included in the events supported by the “Thessaloniki European Youth Capital 2014” agency.
Registration has opened for the 9th International Alexander the Great Marathon to take place 6 April 2014 in Thessaloniki, Northern Greece.
Runners from all over are invited to experience a historic route and learn the importance of Thessaloniki and Macedonia as a center of history, culture and sports.
Through its 42km route, the History of Macedonia can be viewed. The start of the race begins from the statue of Alexander the Great, in Pella, birthplace of Alexander the Great and the capital of ancient Macedonia. The finish is at the White Tower at the Thessaloniki seafront.
Those who are not ready for a marathon, can participate in the 10km or the 5km road races of health and power walking! There will also be a 1,000m road race for primary school students.
Enrollments for the 5, 10 & 42 kms close on Wednesday 19 March 2014 and for the 1,000m road race close on Friday 28 March 2014.
Cost of enrollment/person
Marathon 42 km: 30 euros
Race for Health 10 km: 15 euros
Race for Health 5 km: 15 euros
Race for primary school students 1,000m: FREE
