Greece Welcomed More Belgian Tourists This Year
Greece was the country that saw the largest increase in bookings from Belgian tourists in 2013, a year that the country’s outgoing tourism dropped 2.6 percent compared to the year before, De Standaard daily newspaper reported recently.
According to the newspaper, although summer holiday bookings from Belgium were at their lowest levels for the first time in the last 14 years, a 14 percent increase in bookings made by Belgian tourists to Greece was recorded.
This increase in bookings brought Greece to the fourth place of preferred destinations for travelers from Belgium after France, Spain and Turkey. Tunisia is in the fifth place.
The data released by De Standaard showed that a total of 1,940,000 Belgians went on vacation this summer. The destination that Belgian travelers avoided mainly was Egypt due to the political instability there.
