Greece’s Official Tourism Website To Get Upgrade, New Features
The Greek Tourism Ministry plans to upgrade the country’s official tourism website visitgreece.gr with NSRF funding and launch a site featuring the latest tools and technology to attract more visitors.
The visitgreece.gr website, run by the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), currently has some 7.3 million unique visitors.
Speaking at an event organized by Google on 4 December, Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni referred to the decisive role of the Internet in the promotion of tourism and focused on the actions carried out by the Tourism Ministry.
Mrs. Kefalogianni made it clear that online technology (Internet, social media, applications associated with mobile telephony, portable Internet devices, etc.) is key to the tourism ministry’s strategy to promote Greece.
“The tourism ministry promotes a strong communication strategy based on the Internet and effectively displays a differentiated quality tourist product just as we have envisioned: Greece – a classical, traditional, authentic and historic destination, for all seasons,” the tourism minister said.
She added that Greek tourism enterprises and regions should cooperate with the GNTO on the design of their advertising campaigns so the country could display a stronger online presence and achieve amazing results through collaborations with influential web portals.
