Heraklion, Crete, To Host Conference On Cultural Tourism In Rural Areas

Heraklion_cretePolicy-makers, local and regional stakeholders, researchers and tourism providers will discuss the meaning and future of cultural tourism in rural areas during the upcoming international networking conference to be held in Heraklion, Crete.

The title of the conference is “Cultural values and tourism development in rural areas” and will take place 17-18 October at the Heraklion Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Key themes

Responsible tourism: managing culture and heritage in rural areas by the cooperation of all interested stakeholders.
– European, national and regional development policies for developing local initiatives and small-scale cultural tourism projects.
– Cultural tourism in rural areas: motivating tourists, marketing and branding.

The conference will consist of three key-note speakers, 12 interesting paper presentations, poster session and interactive workshops. A study trip to rural Crete is also planned.
