Sofitel Athens Airport recently hosted a dinner in honor of renowned Greek singer and composer Demis Roussos following his receiving of the French Legion of Honor, Grade of Chevalier, France’s most important medal of valor.

“We  feel very proud that we had the honor to participate in this special moment in the career of Mr. Roussos,” the general manager of Sofitel Athens Airport, Cyril Manguso, said.

The Grade of Chevalier – which is awarded to military and citizens for their services in France – was awarded to Mr. Roussos by French Ambassador to Greece Jean-Loup Kuhn-Delforge, during a ceremony held at the French Embassy in Athens.

The ceremony took place in the presence of the artist’s family, old friends, relatives, associates, people of the arts and people of the French community in Greece.

Demis Roussos, known for his operatic and dramatic vocal styling, is widely known all over Europe, especially in France and Germany.

According to his biography, France has always been a second home for Mr. Roussos and in an artistic sense, it is his first.
