Greece To Participate In Trade Fair For Older Audience
Greek tourism enterprises will promote their services to attract more senior tourists to Greece at the upcoming tourism fair “Senior,” the biggest fair in Sweden for an active older audience.
Oslo-based communication agency North Events will be Greece’s sole representative at the fair and will host a booth showcasing tourism businesses (hotels), popular Greek destinations and tourism services.
“Senior” will take place 15-17 October 2013 at the Stockholmsmassan exhibition center.
In its 19th year, the fair is addressed exclusively to senior citizens and pensioners over the age of 55 and presents a number of various themed sections reflecting the good life; Travels & Tourism, Home & Household, Health & Hobby as well as Law & Services.
Last year’s fair attracted 139 exhibitors and some 10,200 visitors.

Senior Tourism
Senior citizens and pensioners compose a very promising travel market as they are said to have a stable and high income and plenty of free time for leisure and activities.
According to HUI Research, age groups over 55 years are often neglected as potential consumers although they have the highest purchasing power.
The Greek Tourism Ministry recently expressed an interest in attracting more senior tourists to the country. In April, Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni had announced that the ministry was planning to launch a strategy to target this travel group.
A study conducted by the Research Institute for Tourism (ITEP), had said that senior tourism could develop into an essential factor for the lengthening of the tourism season in Greece. ITEP said that by 2030, senior tourists will constitute 24 percent of the international tourism market.
