Athens-Toronto Direct Air Link On Kefalogianni’s Agenda In Canada
The possibility of introducing a year round direct air link between Athens and Toronto was focused on during talks Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni recently held with leaders of airline companies in Canada.
Specifically, Mrs. Kefalogianni held meetings with Andrée Gervais, vice president of Transat Tours Canada and Michael Friisdahl, president and CEO of Air Canada.
According to the tourism minister, the development of a direct link between Greece and Canada would facilitate Canadians who wish to take a comfortable trip to Greece.
During her stay in Toronto, Mrs. Kefalogianni promoted Greece to the Canadian tourism market and held a series of meetings with representatives of major tourism organizations and tour operators. She also met with the president and CEO of the Canadian Tourism Commission, Michele McKenzie.
The tourism minister highlighted the comparative advantages of Greece, the major changes on the country’s infrastructure and presented the new products of marine tourism, religious and gastronomy tourism.
Mrs. Kefalogianni also attended an event of the Hellenic Heritage Foundation (HHF) where the founder of Blackberry, Mike Lazaridis, was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
The event was attended by Metropolitan Sotirios of Canada, Greece’s ambassador to Canada, Eleftherios Angelopoulos, Consul General of Greece in Toronto, Dimitris Azemopoulos and other members of the Greek-Canadian community.
During her stay in Canada, she also gave interviews to CTV, the largest television network in Canada, and business and financial news network Business News Network (BNN).
