Greek Minister of Macedonia-Thrace Optimistic On 2013 Tourism Season
“Greece may attract more than the expected 17 million arrivals this year,” Minister of Macedonia-Thrace Theodoros Karaoglou said today, 13 May, while speaking at the tourism conference held by the Chamber of Xanthi in the northeastern Greek city.
According to Mr. Karaoglou, the first figures from Kavala, Thasos, Samothrace and other regions of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, show a “strong upward trend in bookings,” not only from Russia but also from all European countries.
The minister added that the Ministry of Macedonia-Thrace is in cooperation with the Tourism Ministry for the launch of actions to develop special tourism infrastructure projects, promote the country’s tourism products and extend Greece’s tourism season.
“Our priority is to highlight the comparative advantages of the region, given that tourism development translates to the development of the economy,” Mr. Karaoglou said.
