Passenger Traffic At Piraeus Increases During Easter Holiday
Passenger traffic at Piraeus Port is up by 25 percent compared to last year, Merchant Marine Minister Kostis Mousouroulis said on Thursday 2 May.
From last Friday, 26 April, until Holy Wednesday, 1 May, 74 routes were made from the port of Piraeus to the Greek islands, carrying a total of 77,600 passengers, 10,828 private cars, 3,174 trucks and 2,127 motorcycles.
During the same period last year, 55 routes were made from Piraeus and carried 56,608 passengers, 7,213 private cars, 2,636 trucks and 1,377 motorcycles.
The minister said passenger vehicles volume has also increased by 40 percent compared to 2012.
According to the Greek Coast Guard, ships with itineraries to Cyclades and Samos-Ikaria are 100 percent booked.
