Santorini Promoted Worldwide Via Panoramic Aerial Images
Breathtaking high resolution panoramic aerial images of Oia, Santorini, have been launched online by renowned Russian group of photographers Airpano.
AirPano, a non-commercial project focused on high-resolution 3D aerial panoramas, was invited to Greece last September by City Contact company and Athens Walking Tours to take panoramic aerial shots of the country and then promote them on their website to a global audience. Some 100,000 panorama enthusiasts visit the website daily.
According to City Contact, the initiative aims to promote Greece to the Russian market, a market of great importance for Greek tourism today. Greece is expected to welcome this year some one million, high-income, Russian visitors.
During their visit, along with Santorini, Airpano took panoramic aerial photos of the Acropolis, the Ancient Agora, areas of Athens and Piraeus, Meteora and Mykonos. Images from these Greek destination are expected to be uploaded soon.

Airpano aims to offer virtual 3D tours of the planet’s most interesting destinations. The images are free to access on website www.airpano.com.
Airpano has captured high resolution panoramic images of many UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Sites and some of the most important historical monuments worldwide, including the Taj Mahal, the Tower of Pisa, Machu Picchu, the Pyramids of Giza and the Moscow Kremlin.
