Sculptures Of Color At Hilton Athens
Hilton Athens is currently hosting the sculpture exhibition “Think-Walk” by Dimitra Giannakakou-Razelou.
The work “Think-Walk” suggests the idea of thought and movement within its structure which is color and space. Color is considered as the pigment substance in painting, whilst oil paint as the material.
Ms. Razelou emphasizes the materiality of color. In her paintings, oil paint is not intended for the canvas but for the real space, meant as the expansion of the form, the emergence of the vibrant, the existent and the experiential. As a result, color as a material becomes real space and is presented here in a dual way, as a space for thought (Think) and action which manifests itself with walking (Walk). In reality, these two concepts are not different. They belong to an entity that moves autonomously both as brain and body at the same time.
Ms. Razelou creates sculptures from solid color, converting the material into a work of art. Her work is a comment on the experience of everyday life and is characterized by an evident sense of humor.
Her sculptures will be exhibited at the Lobby of the Hilton Athens all day until 10 March 2013 and entrance is free of charge.
