Tourism, as a driver of the economic recovery, was the focus of the meeting held on Monday, 19 November, between Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni and Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises (SETE) President Andreas Andreadis.
The main issues discussed included ways to attract new investment, create new job positions, increase GDP through tourism and boost local communities and economies through tourism development.
Particular reference was made on issues concerning the education and training of workers in the tourism industry, for which the Tourism Ministry and SETE agreed to cooperate closely on.
“It is our shared belief that Greek tourism can lead the way to the recovery of the Greek economy. The messages we are receiving are positive,” the tourism minister said after the meeting.
In conclusion, the tourism minister said 2013 can and will be “a better year.”
