Tourism Investments To Get On Track
Fast track procedures for tourism investments are underway at the Culture and Tourism Ministry and the Greek National Tourism Organization via the establishment of a special service that will promote and license tourism investments.
The plan for this new service -outlined in a presidential decree that accompanies a new law that allows more complex forms of tourism accommodation- is pending approval by the Council of State.
Reports said it was estimated that within six months the service should be established and would be able to license tourism investments that meet the approved conditions.
The special service will report directly to the office of the GNTO’s general secretary. Among responsibilities, the service will keep investors informed on the institutional, legislative, fiscal and financial framework of tourism investments and in regards to necessary actions required for the licensing of such activities.
According to press reports, the new law will break the barriers that for years had delayed important tourism investment projects in Greece.
