Greek Hotels To Install Amber Alert System
The Hellenic Chamber of Hotels announced last month that it plans to network all Greek hotels with the Amber Alert system to help distribute notices of missing children with the help of hoteliers.
At a press conference, the chamber’s president Yiorgos Tsakiris informed journalists that through cooperation with the Smile of the Child foundation, hotel units would also be networked with hotlines so hoteliers could immediately inform the foundation on abuse or behavioral problems of children staying at their hotels.
In addition, the chamber would also offer free vacations to children of the Smile of the Child foundation and their chaperones to resort hotels throughout the country.
According to Mr. Tsakiris, already 100 hotels, members of the chamber, have embraced the initiative while participants are expected to rise by next spring.
Mr. Tsakiris added that a Smile of the Child fundraising bank would be placed within the chamber’s premises as well as in hotels that would like to take part in the initiative.
