Program To Boost Thessaloniki’s Tourism
The “Visit Thessaloniki” program, an initiative of the Professional Chamber of Thessaloniki, was launched last month for the second year and is designed as an extra incentive for travel agents and tour operators to choose Thessaloniki for tours.
The program allows free parking for bus coaches within the Thessaloniki Port and subsidizes the fee of a tour guide.
Visit Thessaloniki foresees the disembarkation of Greek and foreign tourists at the first pier (near the Photography Museum) and their transport to the city center.
According to the chamber, letters have been sent to tourist agencies of neighboring countries with information in regards to the program.
The chamber also underlined that Visit Thessaloniki gives foreign tourists the chance to become acquainted with the city of Thessaloniki once they arrive at the Macedonia airport.
In addition, the Tourism Promotion Agency of Thessaloniki recently announced that it provides a wide range of useful tourism information on the city through the free social networking website Facebook (profile: Visit Thessaloniki). Thessloniki can also be found on twitter.com.
