City of Athens Officially Takes On the ICG’s in 2009
The 43rd International Children’s Games in 2009 has been officially taken on by the City of Athens as an agreement was signed recently between the Mayor of Athens Nikitas Kaklamanis and the president of the International Children’s Games (ICG) Committee, Torsten Rasch.
The Athens ICG 2009 will take place within the sport facilities of the City of Athens Youth and Sport Organization (ONA) from 23 to 28 June 2009 with an expected participation of 2,000 athletes and coaches from 100 cities in the world.
Mr. Kaklamanis underlined the fact that Athens has proven that it can carry out significant sport competitions and world championships such as the Olympic Games, the Final Four and the Champions League.
The International Children’s Games are held under the auspices of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and organized for athletes aged 12 to 15 years.
