First Activetrip Exhibition in Patra a Great Success

The first ACTIVETRIP exhibition on new and special forms of tourism was held successfully in Patras from 29 February to 2 March. Some 1,200 visitors, 50 exhibitors and a plethora of regional and tourism representatives from all over Greece took part in the exhibition. The general consensus, according to the organizers, anticipates the exhibition becoming an institution for alternative tourism and the City of Patra.

The exhibition offered alternative proposals to tourism development that predispose a deeper exploration of Greece and a tangible familiarization with Greek history and culture. Examples of this include sailing, action and adventure excursions, agritourism, athletic tourism, health tourism religious tourism, and conference and MICE tourism. The exhibition aimed at demonstrating the close relationship between all special forms of tourism and presented the multiple options Greece offers for holidays in the mountains, in the lowlands and by the sea. Exhibitors highlighted the necessity of combining classic holiday options with alternative ones and, according to the organizers, “promoted a powerful Greek tourist product capable of meeting the expectations of people who want to travel all year-round and hence have specific expectations.”

ACTIVETRIP was organized by the Express Kalofolias Group and co-organized by the municipality of Patra and the Development Enterprise of Achaia Prefecture. The exhibition was supported by the West Greece Region General Secretariat and held under the auspice of the Hellenic Association of Travel & Tourist Agencies (HATTA).
