Record for Cruises in 2008
Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) announced 2008 would be a record year for the cruise industry with their members carrying some 12.8 million passengers, of which 10.5 million are from North America and 2.3 million from other markets.
According to statistics revealed by CLIA its members carried some 12.6 million passengers worldwide in 2007 that marks a 4.6 percent increase compared with 12 million passengers in 2006. In 2007 it is estimated there were 10.3 million passengers from North America compared with just over 10 million in 2006. According to CLIA, “Innovations on cruise ships, new vessels and the variety of onboard experiences provided is anticipated to render 2008 a record year for the cruise industry.”
