“Let us not forget the name Philoxenia is what we aim for Greek tourism to be distinguished by, and be its comparative advantage.”
Secretary General,
Greek National Tourism Organization
Philoxenia 2007 greeting.
Philoxenia, as one of the now recognized institutions in the tourism marketplace of Southeast Europe, offers much in the development of Greek tourism. It consists traditionally and in essence as a promotion step for Greek tourism, which gives an opportunity to business, workers and visitors to become informed on the developments, the possibilities and the latest trends as they take place within the international tourism environment.
Today, Greek tourism finds itself on an ascending pace of development and creative reconstruction. The Greek National Tourism Organization acknowledges institutions such as Philoxenia contributed and enhanced the positive results in tourism policy over the last few years. The development of Greek tourism at all levels, with specialized goals, enrichment of services provided and quality in infrastructure and services has multiplied the benefits to the sector, reinforced local communities and aided employment. Tourism is the pillar of the Greek economy, as it strengthens many economic sectors such as that of transport, manufacturing and trade. It is Greece’s heavy industry.
The constructive cooperation of Helexpo with the Greek National Tourism Organization constitutes a guarantee for quality in organization. There is no doubt that 2007 Philoxenia will contribute positively to all of our efforts for the further development of Greek tourism, and will have the success we anticipate.
Let us not forget the name Philoxenia is what we aim for Greek tourism to be distinguished by, and be its comparative advantage. Hospitality and cordial reception of foreigners constitutes the traditional virtue of Greeks, a fact that marks contemporary services in tourism.
