Qatar Launches New First-time Routes
Aviation and tourism officials in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, last month praised the latest expansion moves by Qatar Airways, which includes the addition of a new link between Malaysia’s capital and the tropical Indonesian island of Bali.
This month, Qatar Airways will launch the first of its summer expansion program in North America with the airline’s award-winning five-star service spreading to the United States for the first time.
Qatar, one of only five airlines in the world with a five-star ranking for service and excellence awarded by the independent aviation industry monitoring agency Skytrax, will fly four-times-a-week between its operational hub of Doha and Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey, the gateway to New York City, on the U.S. east coast.
Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker said the arrival of Qatar Airways in the United States meant that travelers here will now be able to experience the high levels of service that the airline is renowned for, and the media campaign will emphasize the service and luxury aspects that sets the airline apart from its competitors.
“We’re busy preparing Qatar Airways’ biggest route launches of the year with both New York and Washington, D.C., coming on line this summer.” Under the headline ‘A Star is Airborne,’ the campaign kicks off with advertisements in the New York Times and the Washington Post.
Mr. Al Baker noted that flights to the U.S. were historic for Qatar Airways in a year that has already seen it introduce services to Dar es Salaam, Lagos, Chennai, Bali, and Ho Chi Minh City. Scheduled services between Doha and Stockholm begin November 30.
The new US flights via Doha will offer excellent connections to and from the Gulf States.
