Hotel Chamber Elects New Board
Last month’s Hellenic Hotel Chamber elections resulted in a new board led by Gerasimos Fokas, reelected as president, and Vasilis Plevris and Dimitris Karalis as vice-presidents.
In his speech to the chamber, Mr. Fokas outlined the goals set for the new board’s three-year term 2006-2009. One of the first goals is to design a new administrative framework for the chamber by way of an open dialogue with the associated government bodies, the city and chamber members.
Another goal is to establish a support center for small and mid-sized hotel businesses that will focus on investment and marketing. Hotel quality is another important objective. The board plans to encourage certification through the chamber’s newly established certification organization, FiloxeniaCert, and to organize training programs on the quality of the hotel product for hoteliers and hotel employees.
Finally, the chamber wants to bring all of the 9,400 businesses that are chamber members into the digital age and establish a computer network custom-designed for hotels and campsites.
