Hotel Chamber Awards Nine For Tourism Contribution
At a ceremony last month, the Hellenic Hotel Chamber granted nine awards for significant contributions to tourism in Greece, in an award program first started in 2004. This year, a special committee selected individuals, businesses, initiatives and hotels that regardless of their size are judged as models for the industry that open new routes for Greek enterprises and tourism to follow.
This year’s awards went to: Gianna Aggelopoulou-Daskalaki, grand award for personal contribution for strengthening the image and identity of modern Greece internationally; Shipowner Vasilis Konstadakopoulos, award for pioneering tourism investment initiative (POTA) in Messinia; Kostaki Loizou’s Louis Hellenic Cruises, tourism enterprise award for efforts in the cruising industry; Nikolaos Mertzos, Nymfaion community president, and Giannis Boutaris, the award for showcasing Nymfaion as a significant tourism destination; Spyros Spyridonas, mayor of Poros, tourism and OTA award for his efforts to promote Poros; Leonidas Dimitriadis-Evgenidis of the Elies Resort, the Holiday Hotel award; Aris Soulounias of Rodos Park Suites, the City Hotel award; Kyriakos Griveas of Country Club, the award for a hotel showcasing local architecture and cultural heritage; and Dakis Ivannou of Semiramis Hotel, the Hotel Art and Design award.
