Tourism Organization Considers Additional Tourism Promotion Activities
The Hellenic Tourism Organization is now in the process of increasing promotional activities of Greece abroad. Besides agreements with major television companies in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Japan, a major television crew from China just left Greece after extensive filming.
As well, the organization has held talks with Athens Mayor Dora Bakoyianni regarding cooperation in promoting Athens as a destination in light of the 2004 Games. It is also, in cooperation with the development ministry, considering call for tenders of interest from the private sector (an international public relations firm) for the promotion of Greece in the event of a war in the Middle East.
In the meantime, the Hellenic Tourism Organization is attempting to develop and organize its offices abroad so as they can more efficiently promote Greek tourism abroad before, during and after the 2004 Olympic Games.
Within this framework, the organization had called for tenders for the creation of a study for the “Development and Operation Business Plan of Offices Abroad.” The organization received eight offers – from KPMG Kyriakou Advisors, Diadikasia Global View, Infogroup, Diadikasia of Northern Greece, 01 Pliroforiki, TEC, Greek Investments, and E.O.O. Group.
A special committee recommended by the organization will conduct the opening and evaluation of offers.
