Star City Project Begins Next Month
Construction on a major league tourism and recreation park in the Athens area gets underway next month. The 18-billion-drachma “Star City” venture covers some 278,000 square meters of beachfront property in the Athens suburb of Glyfada.
Estrelia Tourism, the company that will build and manage the project, expects to complete the first phase of the Star City before the beginning of summer 2001. The first phase will cost the company 9.2 billion drachmas. It will include a unique water park, all-purpose recreation halls, restaurants, boutiques, parking for 850 vehicles, an open amphitheater, and a revamping of the present on-site bungalows and ecological area.
The second phase, worth 5.5 billion drachmas, includes a 250-room five-star hotel unit, a conference center, a thalassatherapy center, an athletic and health center, a yachting club and an extension to the water park.
